- J-S Bach – Magnificat
- Pärt – Berliner Messe (Messe de Berlin)
The Magnificat is undoubtedly the most popular of Bach’s sacred masterpieces – perhaps owing to its jubilant character. The Orchestre de chambre I Musici joins forces with the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal to present this masterwork as part of the 2012 Montreal Bach Festival. The program will also feature the Berliner Messe by Arvo Pärt, composed in 1990. This major work is typical of music by the Estonian minimalist composer, who drew inspiration from the sacred polyphonies of the Renaissance.
