Quartet at the HLM Sainte-Brigide

A t the end of September, I Musici had an opportunity to collaborate for the first time with the SAMS, a network of professional musicians that offers concerts in healthcare settings. I Musici musicians went to the HLM Sainte-Brigide (located in Montreal’s Villa Maria neighbourhood) to provide musical entertainment to seniors. The quartet presented works from every period. Encouraged by the musicians, the residents took part in performing several songs, including “La vie en rose” and “Les feuilles mortes,” an invigorating experience for both the seniors and the musicians.

Recording for people in health centres

At the end of November 2020, a quartet from I Musici joined forces with the SAMS to make a recording. This performance is intended to be broadcast starting in January 2021 to people living in various Quebec health-care settings (long-term care homes, seniors’ residences, hospitals, rehabilitation centres and mental health institutes). I Musici is happy to be reaching people who are particularly vulnerable to isolation during the pandemic.

More about the SAMS

The SAMS is a charity that brings together a large network of professional musicians who intervene in health-care settings. It offers quality concerts and better access to the arts to marginalized groups (people in hospital, rehabilitation centres, mental health institutes and seniors in residences). The SAMS is dedicated to improving the lives of patients and residents who are often confined throughout the year.
