Our origins at I Musici are the strength of an ensemble where every voice counts.
The face we present to you for I Musici’s 42nd season is unmistakably new: new collective artistic direction, new concert experience without a conductor, new general management, new venue. Every ordeal transforms us, and we have collectively taken it upon ourselves to turn the bad times into opportunities to rethink our model, our place, our role. One thing leading to another, this exploration has taken us back in time to the founding of the ensemble and the impetus of its founder, Yuli Turovsky.
So, if our artistic origins inspire us to shape our vision, our human origins remind us that art is above all a powerful tool for reflection and unification in the face of issues that affect us all. In a world where everything seems to want to divide us, chamber music has much to teach us through its collaborative environment where every voice is not only heard, but valued and important.
This season takes collaboration beyond the confines of the stage, through partnerships with artists from different horizons on universal themes, in a desire to get closer to each other and experience music together as a unifying experience. Whether it’s a question of inspiration, imagination, connection to others, love, femininity or intergenerational dialogue, music from here and elsewhere enables us to take a fresh look at issues and live together in a transformative experience.
