I MUSICI DE MONTRÉAL CHAMBER ORCHESTRA DESIGNATES CHIEF JEAN-FRANÇOIS RIVEST AS MUSICAL ADVISOR AND PRINCIPAL GUEST CONDUCTOR

I Musici de Montréal Chamber Orchestra is pleased to announce the nomination of conductor Jean-François Rivest as Music Advisor and Principal Guest Conductor. Mr. Rivest will take up his position as of January 1, 2021 and will be responsible for programming future seasons and conducting the orchestra as Principal Guest Conductor.

We are very pleased to welcome Jean-François Rivest to the team,” said Louise Vaillancourt, Chair of the Board of Directors.

Jean-François Rivest is a well-known and appreciated figure in the Quebec classical music community. Trained at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal and the Juilliard School in New York, he was conductor in residence at the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, artistic director of the Orchestre Symphonique de Laval and the Thirteen Strings Ensemble in Ottawa, and artistic director of the Orford Arts Centre. Since 1992, he has taught conducting at the Université de Montréal, given various advanced interpretation courses, and conducts the UDM orchestra (OUM) which he founded.

I Musici would like to warmly thank conductor Jean-Marie Zeitouni who has been at the helm of the orchestra for more than ten years. His passage will have been noticed by his innovation and professionalism. He will have kept the ensemble at a high professional level. The musical legacy he will leave behind him will remain a very precious asset for the orchestra.
