Who we are

Founded in 1983 by Yuli Turovsky, the I Musici de Montréal Chamber Orchestra is comprised of 15 exceptional musicians whose varied repertoire ranges from the 17th century to today. Jean-Marie Zeitouni, conductor and artistic visionary, has served as artistic director from 2011 to 2020. Since 2021, Jean-François Rivest, conductor renowned for his energy, his extremely precise technique and his passionate style, has held the positions of artistic advisor and principal guest conductor for the orchestra. Each I Musici de Montréal concert is a unique experience combining discovery, tradition and innovation in classical music. Since its inception the Orchestra has always recognized and brought to the fore emerging Canadian talents and continues to carve out a place for renowned artists, from here and abroad, while remaining a catalyst for creativity. I Musici de Montreal has delighted music lovers in over 20 different countries and has a discography made up of more than 40 recordings.


To promote and foster the performance, dissemination, understanding and development of chamber music from the 17th century to today through self-presented or co-produced events (in venues or through traditional and digital media), educational programs and interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary collaborations that showcase Montreal’s unique artistic and cultural vitality, according to the highest standards of excellence.



The I Musici de Montréal Chamber Orchestra puts its talent, versatility and creativity at the service of the community to foster the interpretation, dissemination and development of concert music.



Rooted in its community, I Musici de Montréal strives to improve the quality of life in the city by celebrating Montreal’s diversity and promoting the artistic and cultural vitality of the Quebec metropolis.

As Canada’s foremost generalist chamber orchestra, we demonstrate our versatility by sharing music, inviting discovery and finding innovative ways to make classical music accessible.

We wish to act as a creative catalyst in the city by developing artistic, cultural and educational collaborative projects unique to Montreal; promoting the music of established and unexplored composers; and encouraging musical creation and renewal.
