About
I Musici de Montréal
Founded in 1983 by Yuli Turovsky, the Orchestre I Musici de Montréal has been sharing its passion for classical music for 40 years. The 15 exceptional, virtuoso and passionate string players who make up the orchestra bring to life a varied repertoire spanning the 17th century to the present day, guided by their conductor and artistic director Jean-François Rivest. The Orchestra also acts as a creative catalyst within the city of Montreal, and continues to strengthen its roots in the community by collaborating with various organizations and schools within its territory. I Musici de Montréal has built a solid reputation thanks to its many international tours and 40 recordings of the highest quality. The orchestra’s mandate is to :
- To promote and stimulate the knowledge, development, dissemination and performance of music for chamber orchestra, without restricting itself to particular periods or styles.
- Maintain the highest standards of artistic excellence
- Organize, prepare, produce and perform concerts and recitals, in self-presentation or co-production, in concert halls or via digital media
- Contribute to the development of new audiences through educational programs, and to the training of new generations of musicians through events in residence, master classes and the integration of young professionals into the orchestra’s activities
- Stimulate the creation and performance of works by emerging and established composers
