A word from our artistic advisor and conductor

Dear public,

We present to you the 2023–2024 season line-up for the I Musici de Montréal Chamber Orchestra. This upcoming season will mark the orchestra’s fortieth anniversary—forty years of passion and excellence! I Musici de Montréal was founded by the late cellist and conductor Yuli Turovsky in 1983. To date, I Musici has performed thousands of concerts with some of the most renowned musicians in the greatest concert halls all across the globe. We are delighted to present to you our anniversary season and to share our long and wonderful tradition of excellence and passion for music with you, our dear audience—an excellence and passion that has run in our veins for forty years.

This program will reflect our energy, drive, passion, subtlety, finesse, and diversity of styles. In this series of eight concerts, you will once again meet your I Musici musicians who will be in the spotlight in various events throughout the season. A number of renowned artists will also share the stage with us, including contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux, soprano Andréanne Brisson-Paquin, bandoneon player Jonathan Goldman, and cellists Stéphane Tétreault and Bryan Cheng, as well as conductors Lina González-Granados and Simon Rivard, and pianist Alain Lefèvre. This season will also feature author Kim Thúy, who will take us on a journey through her literary world and share her favourite pieces of music with us. We will also make space for two musical premieres created especially for this anniversary, both written by Denis Gougeon and Robert Normandeau, two French-Canadian composers. Memorable celebrations wouldn’t be complete without a diverse array of artists, whose works vary from music, to literature, to dance!

Come join the festivities!
