Music is a gift, and for its 40th anniversary, I Musici de Montréal invites you to this magnificent benefit concert with Kerson Leong, one of the best young violinists in North America. He will dazzle you with two poetic and sensitive works from the repertoire: the soaring Lark Ascending by Vaughan Williams and the very passionate Poème by Ernest Chausson. And to conclude this very special concert, the work which alone sums up 40 years of passion for I Musici de Montréal, the string sextet Souvenirs de Florence by Tchaikovsky. Recorded for the renowned British label Chandos and performed in concert on the most prestigious stages in the world, this flagship of the immense career of I Musici de Montréal will take you to the heart of our artistic identity: verve, romanticism, pure emotions!

Kerson Leong has been described as “not just one of Canada’sgreatest violinists but one of the greatest violinists, period” (Toronto Star). Forging a unique path since his First Prize winat the International Yehudi Menuhin Violin Competition in 2010, he continues to win over colleagues and audiences alikewith “a mixture of spontaneity and mastery, elegance, fantasy, intensity that makes his sound recognizable from the first notes” (Le Monde).

His recent album for Alpha Classics featuring the completesonatas for solo violin by Eugène Ysaÿe was awarded the Diapason d’Or Découverte and the Choc de Classica, withClassica proclaiming him “more than a discovery, a veritablerevelation” and Gramophone declaring that “his recordingcould be a happy first choice for any discerning listener”.

As a sought-after soloist, he was hand-picked by Yannick Nézet-Séguin to be his artist-in-residence with the Orchestre Métropolitain during the 18/19 season and has performed in such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium, Wigmore Hall, the Auditorium du Louvre and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing. As a passionatechamber musician, he has performed at such international festivals and concert series as the Verbier Festival, Rheingau Musik Festival, Gstaad Menuhin Festival, FestspieleMecklenburg-Vorpommern, Flâneries musicales de Reims, and Bergen International Festival among others.
