Montreal, Wednesday, May 3, 2023 – Here is the programming for the 2023-2024 season of the I Musici de Montréal Chamber Orchestra. This new season marks the 40th anniversary of the founding of our orchestra, 40 years of passion, 40 years of excellence! Founded in 1983 by the late cellist and conductor Yuli Turovsky, I Musici de Montréal has given thousands of concerts to date all around the world, with some of the most renowned musicians, in the greatest concert halls in the world, and has recorded some 50 albums for the prestigious labels Chandos, Analekta, and Atma classique.

And when there is a celebration, there are also gifts! We are therefore particularly proud to announce the appointment of Jean-François Rivest as conductor and artistic director for the next four years; he will remain in office until 2027.

Throughout this series of eight concerts, you will rediscover our musicians, your Musici, who will be featured in one or the other of the programs. Several other great artists will also share the stage with us, including contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux, soprano Andréanne Brisson-Paquin, bandoneonist Jonathan Goldman, cellists Stéphane Tétreault and Bryan Cheng, conductors Lina Gonzalez-Granados and Simon Rivard, and pianist Alain Lefèvre. We will also welcome author Kim Thuy, who will introduce us to her literary universe and her favorite musical pieces. We will also showcase musical creation with two works specially written for this anniversary by Quebec composers Denis Gougeon and Robert Normandeau. Add to this a repertoire of extremely varied works and composers, serving music, of course, but also literature and dance, and you have all the ingredients for memorable celebrations!

The concerts will take place at 7:30 pm at the Pierre-Mercure Hall of the Centre-Pierre Péladeau in Montreal, and Te Deum will be at the St-James Church.
