Forty years of passion is something to celebrate! I’m happy to be part of this huge milestone with the I Musici musicians and Jean-François. Be part of the I Musici experience all year round and unearth the orchestra’s crown jewels—the talents of each and every member.
I Musici de Montréal is a tightly knit ensemble, both on stage and in everyday life, of three generations of musicians. This season, we will put them in the spotlight among a slew of brilliant guest artists. Our unmatched artistic director Jean-François has once again put together programs that will highlight the musicians’ virtuosic skills.
I would like to sincerely thank Le Groupe Maurice that will join us as our season partner for a second year, as well as a number of companies and foundations that enable our musicians to undertake inspiring projects in our communities to foster access to music for everyone, from schools to long-term care facilities for our seniors to hospitals and low-income housing facilities in the Greater Montréal area. A strong sense of community involvement is just one of the exceptional qualities our musicians have demonstrated for forty years.
We will continue our Carte blanche series throughout the fortieth-anniversary season, journeying into the imagination of a personality from a diverse background who will share their stories with us. Caroline Monnet dazzled us with her six seasons last year. This November, author Kim Thúy will charm us with her heartwrenching and delightful stories. We have long held Thúy dear to our hearts for her works Ru and Man, amongst others. Part of the funds raised at this very special concert will once again go to an organization making a difference in the community. This year, funds will go to Centre Saint-Louis, an organization offering French courses to newcomers, allowing them to attend season concerts and get to know people.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to our board members, our small I Musici team, all our partners and our faithful volunteers, as well as everyone else who has shone a spotlight on I Musici for forty years. A special thank you to Lise Vézina-Prévost for always being so enthusiastic, offering sound advice, and attending each concert. Lise was the first executive director and founded I Musici with Yuli Turovsky.
We thank YOU, our dear audience, for being with us and capturing the I Musici energy with us in person.
I wish you a great season abounding with energy and emotion !
